Imo state governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, escaped death as he was
attacked at in Ohaji/Egbema local government area of the state.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the governor was on his way to
attend an official function in the area when the youths from Mmahu , the
council headquarters, attacked his convoy with stones and bottles,
shattering the windscreens of his bulletproof Sports Utility Vehicle
(SUV).
On sighting the governor, the youths were said to have started chanting,
‘onye oshi vote’, onye oshi vote’, meaning ‘vote thief’,
‘vote thief’.
The throwing of the stones and bottles flew from all corners as it
appeared the youths got hint of the governor’s coming and laid in wait
for him.
However, Uzodinma was prevented from alighting from the vehicle by
security operatives who whisked him from the scene.
As at the time of filing this report, there has been no statement from
any of the Imo government officials. Efforts to contact his Chief Press
Secretary, Mr. Oguike Nwachukwu, was unsuccessful.
